I was told am going with a guy called George Boateng who I found out won a mapping
competition in Legon. We didn’t have too much time to talk and as it also turned out
we weren’t in thesame apartments too

I got to Kenya at 05:35 (+3 GMT) to which we were greeted by the presence of a masaai
group.

we got our pickups and headed to our designated apartments, I went to the Natural Oak apartment
and met a couple of other participants who were also happy to see me.
But I was not lucky because I arrived on the day one of the conference which meant no sleep

we got picked by the bus and got to the event which was filled with especially *coffee* as it turns out
Kenya is really cold it was 18degrees when I touched down at the airport. The event went smoothly
but I dosed quite often since I just came from a close to six hours night flight and had no sleep.

I met guys and listened to guys who dedicated a lot of time and single handedly mapped areas and even deserts
yes deserts and they used various tools and were *not* on google’s payroll, most times most Ghanaians work on
how much do I get so I really appreciated the dedication and passion these guys had to map out
places, some of them used GPS and some walked in town write downs road names and other details,
PoI’s(Points of Interests) and then got home and used the satellite view to map them out. Some of them
didn’t have *enough* tech knowhow to work efficiently with google map maker but they did it any way and
it was great. It got me to think of ways to put their work to good use.

They were also the usual business *people* and their quest to make money out of it. I was profoundly shy
as usual and thus didn’t speak that much but none the less I represented Ghana GTUG to the fullest and they were
really interested and showed praises for Us ^^

As it turned out I was the only Developer there and didn’t have any on the ground mapping experience

Well I see too much text up there so I end by saying, I got introduced to the idea of mapping parties and am planning
on setting one up in the next two or three weeks it will be a week long and they shall be food and drinks but please
don’t just arrive because of *food and drinks* come because you don’t want to see your area not reped on google maps
come because you want Ghana to be fully represented on google maps.

MMUBS was selected for WordCamp UK 2010 following a bidding process, at which a number of potential venues were considered.

Tony Scott, WordCamp UK Organising Coordinator, said: “From the options available, MMUBS was the clear winner following the bidding process.”

“The modern conference facilities offered, the flexibility shown by the MMUBS team in making detailed arrangements, along with availability of competitively priced campus accommodation, were the clinching factors.”

“We’re looking forward to a productive, educational and enjoyable weekend in Manchester”.

In 2008 WordCamp UK attracted 120 attendees, in 2009 that grew to 150, and this year they are aiming to attract 200, reflecting the increased level of interest in WordPress over the past year.

The weekend covers all the sectors that use WordPress: from individual bloggers to large companies.

David Edmundson-Bird, Director of Executive Programmes at MMUBS said, “We are proud to support WordCamp UK 2010 as a Gold sponsor. With WordPress’s soaring popularity and our specialism in digital marketing and publishing we look forward to collaborating with WordCamp’s delegates, from web publishers to designers and developers.”

Chi-chi Ekweozor, founder of Manchester-based Internet TV and social media consultancy, Real Fresh TV, who proposed and wrote the winning city bid for WordCamp UK 2010 added: “I attended my first WordCamp UK in 2009 and was blown away by the friendliness of UK WordPress community.”

“By the end of the conference, I had met Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little, cofounders of WordPress and a senior member of Google’s Search Quality team in Ireland! The quality of speakers at WordCamp UK events illustrate how much admiration and respect there is for WordPress in the online publishing sector.”

WordCamp will be held on the weekend of 17-18 July 2010, with tickets available from April, more details: http://uk.wordcamp.org/

IMANI – Ghana (policy think tank), www.AfricanLiberty.org the Initiative for Public Policy Analysis, (Nigeria) the Health Access Network, and the mPedigree Network cordially invite you to the inaugural West African Forum on Access to Quality Medicines and Vaccines.

Given the recent concern about the substandard quality of a significant proportion of the medicines sold and dispensed in the West African sub-region, the forum is urgently required to collect views of key stakeholders in the health sector about how to address these challenges. Furthermore, the high prices of essential pharmaceuticals, and the difficulty marketers of medicines have in selling their products in other countries beyond their own, are also major concerns that need to be discussed.

These views will be used in a proposed draft policy paper on how to expand access to quality medicines for decision makers in the region.

There shall be stakeholder sessions organized around the communities of: Industry, Health Professionals & Academics, and Policymakers & Regulators. In addition to the aforementioned organizations, the Ministry of Health (Ghana), the Ghana Food & Drugs Board, the WHO and the West Africa Health Organisation, the Ministry of Health (Nigeria), and leading stakeholders of the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry have also been invited.

We wish to invite you to the conference. Very limited seats are available. Please indicate acceptance by Friday, November 20, 2009. Please email mavis@imanighana.com or call 0244 973 951 to reserve a seat. The date is Tuesday, 24th of November 2009, the venue is La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra (Homowo Conference Center), and the time is 09:00AM – 6:00PM

Today, at the Content Revenue Strategies conference in New York City, we announced that a small group of publishers will begin testing a new AdSense interface in limited beta. Inspired by the feedback we’ve heard directly from you, the new interface includes features designed around your top three requests:

Provide insights to help you make more informed decisions about your sites.

The new AdSense interface includes more detailed performance reports and enables you to view daily stats in graphical formats. It also will provide you with additional metrics such as the amount you’ve earned from various ad, targeting and bid types. Here’s a glimpse at what the new reports currently look like in our beta:

Offer you more control over the ads that appear on your sites.

We’re also continuing to make improvements to the Ad Review Center. Upcoming enhancements will give you more options to manage the ads that appear on your site, as well as a cleaner interface that makes it easier to find and review them within the Ad Review Center.

Help you manage your account more efficiently.

We’ve streamlined the AdSense interface to simplify common tasks, such as making a change to several ad units simultaneously. Additionally, to help you get the most out of AdSense, we’ve added more relevant help on every page, a message inbox for tips from our team, and alerts with important account related notices.

In order to collect feedback on these enhancements from publishers in multiple countries, we’re rolling out the beta test of the new interface today in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. Although we aren’t able to extend invitations to additional publishers yet, we’re planning to roll this test out to thousands of publishers over the coming weeks. We’ll be sending email notifications to the beta test participants to let them know.
