Over the coming weeks, we will be making two important updates that will impact how you interact with Twitter applications. We are sending this notice to all Twitter users to make sure you are aware of these changes.

What are applications?

There are over 250,000 applications built using the Twitter API. To use most applications, you first authorize the application to access your Twitter account, after which you can use it to read and post Tweets, discover new users and more. Applications come in many varieties, including desktop applications likeTweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon, websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, orTopsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, or Foursquare.

Update 1: New authorization rules for applications

Starting August 31, all applications will be required to use “OAuth” to access your Twitter account.

What’s OAuth?

OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.

Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.

What does this mean for me?

Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.

If you change your password, the applications will continue to work.

Some applications you have been using may require you to reauthorize them or may stop functioning at the time of this change.

All applications you have authorized will be listed athttp://twitter.com/settings/connections.

You can revoke access to any application at any time from the list.

Update 2: t.co URL wrapping

In the coming weeks, we will be expanding the roll-out of our link wrapping service t.co, which wraps links in Tweets with a new, simplified link. Wrapped links are displayed in a way that is easier to read, with the actual domain and part of the URL showing, so that you know what you are clicking on. When you click on a wrapped link, your request will pass through the Twitter service to check if the destination site is known to contain malware, and we then will forward you on to the destination URL. All of that should happen in an instant.

You will start seeing these links on certain accounts that have opted-in to the service; we expect to roll this out to all users by the end of the year. When this happens, all links shared on Twitter.com or third-party apps will be wrapped with a t.co URL.

What does this mean for me?

A really long link such as http://www.amazon.com/Delivering-Happiness-Profits-Passion-Purpose/dp/0446563048 might be wrapped as http://t.co/DRo0trj for display on SMS, but it could be displayed to web or application users as amazon.com/Delivering- or as the whole URL or page title.

You will start seeing links in a way that removes the obscurity of shortened links and lets you know where each link will take you.

When you click on these links from Twitter.com or a Twitter application, Twitter will log that click. We hope to use this data to provide better and more relevant content to you over time.

Thanks for reading this important update. Come and check what’s new athttp://twitter.com.

Thanks,
The Twitter Team

Since I started using Apple products my life has changed drastically and to be honest with you I am really enjoying it. That is why I would love to share this article with you, it was written by Jonathan Seff, of Macworld.com.

The iPad is a curious device—not quite an iPod, not quite a laptop. I typically bring it to work with me during the day, and keep it on my nightstand at home at other times.

And although I use it for many different purposes—checking e-mail, ordering from Amazon, catching up on Twitter, controlling one of the Macs in the other room—what I’ve really noticed is how the iPad has changed how and what I read.

I typically have magazines strewn about the house in various states of being read—especially The New Yorker, which comes 47 times a year—with bind-in cards or random scraps of paper used as bookmarks. And when I’m done with them, they often wait their turn to be tossed in with the recycling.

Zinio has been around for a while now, providing digital subscriptions to magazines that you can read on a Mac, PC, or iPhone/iPod touch. I never really found it very enjoyable to read a magazine on my computer or the small screen of my iPhone. But with the iPad and a universal version of the app, it’s a whole different story.

With the Zinio app on an iPad, I have a large screen on which to enjoy digital replicas of magazines. Unlike with printed magazines, however, I can pinch out to zoom into section to make it easier to read. The app keeps my place without the need for paper bookmarks. There are hyperlinks that take me directly to the jumped portion of an article without making me flip to the back to pages that often have no page numbers on them. I can read in bed without a light after my wife goes to sleep. I can download new issues as soon as they’re available and carry around as many magazines as my iPad can hold. And there’s nothing to recycle.

Thanks to Zinio, I’ve re-subscribed to Rolling Stone—a magazine I haven’t read for years. When my current print subscription to Outside Magazine is up after one more issue, I plan to switch to the Zinio version. And I look forward to Conde Nast bringing The New Yorker to the iPad (although I recently renewed my print subscription for another three years).

To be fair, the Zinio app and experience are far from perfect. Subscription pricing is all over the map and seems to change on a whim—I checked the Outside Zinio page three times over the course of several weeks, and a one-year subscription went from $16 to $20 before finally settling to $24 in that time. Also, there are no multi-year subscription options. Although Outside currently offers me one year of print for $30, I can opt for two years for $40 or three years for $50, dropping the price per issue if I’ll commit for longer. With Zinio, that’s not an option. I don’t mind paying the same price for Zinio as for a printed magazine, but it shouldn’t cost more.

Also, as with other types of digital publications, I can’t hand an issue off to a friend or family member when I’m done with. And there’s no way to loan or share these types of purchases with other Zinio members.

Before the iPad, I had never read an entire book on a portable device. I’d read bits and pieces using the Kindle app on my iPhone (including a 25 cent version of Alice in Wonderland) but I don’t own Kindle hardware.

I tested out the iBookstore by purchasing Samantha Bee’s I Know I Am, But What Are You?. After adjusting the font, type size, and brightness to my liking (and turning on the Sepia background option) I enjoyed breezing through the book, without worrying about remembering my place. The iPad is heavier than other e-book-only devices, but I haven’t found it oppressively so.

A nice thing about the iPad (or Kindle or Nook or other e-reader) is the ability to download and carry multiple books with you for a vacation, say, rather than schlep around lots of heavy tomes. Or buy a new book from your hotel room without having to care about finding the nearest bookstore (and worry about its selection).

Having finished that first book, I’ve now moved on to Christopher Hitchens’ Hitch-22: A Memoir.

I must admit that I haven’t read a comic book since I was a teenager (although I still have a few boxes of nicely preserved issues in the basement). Or at least I hadn’t until I started playing around with the Marvel app on the iPad.

Thanks to Marvel’s selection of free comic book issues (which change on a regular basis) I’ve given the iPad a opportunity to show me what it can do with another type of reading material. (This “the first taste is free” mentality seems to be an important marketing tool for the shifting comic book business, as our editor in chief, Jason Snell, discovered at Comic-Con recently.)

Although I’ve yet to plunk down my credit card to buy any comics, I’ve found the reading experience to be mostly a nice one. Text can be a little small and hard to read without zooming in—especially on double pages displayed while reading in portrait orientation. It’s not quite the same tactile experience as I remember from my comic-reading days, and digital distribution means an end to collecting in the classic sense. But in general, the graphics look great and are very colorful, and it’s nice to have yet another reading option on the iPad.

Perhaps it’s because I woke up this morning, got showered and dressed, ready to do some work and greet the day with optimize this morning when I got a strange mail from my web host, telling me that someone was using my e-mail account to send scammed mails to people. There are no words to describe how I felt. I decided to investigate and bring the culprit to book. Below is step by step procedure to check if your gmail account has been accessed from different location.

You must first locate the Last account activity which is directly under the space gmail as located to your account “You are currently using 802 MB (10%) of your 7455 MB.” You will noticed that the last time anybody accessed or used your account is there like this “Last account activity: 44 minutes ago on this computer.” If you should discover that the last time an activity on your account doesn’t match the last time you accessed your gmail account then there is a security bridge which you must attend to immediately.

The second thing to do, is to check which location did the last activity take place and from which IP Address and that can be achieved by clicking on the Details link next to the “Last account activity.” A pop up window like the one in the image will pop up listing all the various activities that have taken place on your account since the last time you checked your mail.

Spam-Alert

From the image you noticed that the Account Activity gives you detailed transaction of your accounts for about ten recent transactions. Do you notices anything strange in the image above, hmmm… I know you do. Of all the transaction that have taken place you realized that there is one odd one in there. Yes! you spot Nigeria in there, funny enough I have never been to Nigeria before and yet my transaction shows that I accessed my gmail account from that location on June 4 2010. My due diligences has paid off.

Notices that the recent activity has three columns 1) Access Type – which devices and browser you used in accessing your account. 2) Location and IP Address – Where you are accessing your accounts from and the IP Address that was used. 3) Date and Time – The exact time and date the account was accessed in real time.

If you should discover that there is any specious activity going on in your account just change your password and you won’t feel naked like I did. My advice to you is to make sure your new password is very very secure.

Today, in the spirit of greater transparency with AdSense publishers, we’re sharing the revenue shares for our two main AdSense products — AdSense for content and AdSense for search.

As you may already know, AdSense is comprised of several products. The most popular are AdSense for content, which allows publishers to generate revenue from ads placed alongside web content, and AdSense for search, which allows publishers to place a custom Google search engine on their site and generate revenue from ads shown next to search results. Since AdSense for content and AdSense for search offer publishers different services, the revenue shared with publishers differs for each of these products.

AdSense for content publishers, who make up the vast majority of our AdSense publishers, earn a 68% revenue share worldwide. This means we pay 68% of the revenue that we collect from advertisers for AdSense for content ads that appear on your sites. The remaining portion that we keep reflects Google’s costs for our continued investment in AdSense — including the development of new technologies, products and features that help maximize the earnings you generate from these ads. It also reflects the costs we incur in building products and features that enable our AdWords advertisers to serve ads on our AdSense partner sites. Since launching AdSense for content in 2003, this revenue share has never changed.

We pay our AdSense for search partners a 51% revenue share, worldwide, for the search ads that appear through their implementations. As with AdSense for content, the proportion of revenue that we keep reflects our costs, including the significant expense, research and development involved in building and enhancing our core search and AdWords technologies. The AdSense for search revenue share has remained the same since 2005, when we increased it.

We also offer additional AdSense products including AdSense for mobile applications, AdSense for feeds, and AdSense for games. We aren’t disclosing the revenue shares for these products at this time because they’re quickly evolving, and we’re still learning about the costs associated with supporting them. Revenue shares for these products can vary from product to product since our costs in building and maintaining these products can vary significantly. Additionally, the revenue shares for AdSense for content and AdSense for search also can vary for major online publishers with whom we negotiate individual contracts.

Of course, we can’t guarantee that the revenue share will never change (our costs may change significantly, for example), but we don’t have any current plans to do so for any AdSense product. Over the next few months we’ll begin showing the revenue shares for AdSense for content and AdSense for search right in the AdSense interface.

We hope this additional transparency helps you gain more insight into your business partnership with Google. We believe our revenue share is very competitive, and the vast number of advertisers who compete to appear on AdSense sites helps to ensure that you’re earning the most from every ad impression. Additionally, when considering different monetization options, we encourage you to focus on the total revenue generated from your site, rather than just revenue share, which can be misleading. For example, you would receive $68 with AdSense for content for $100 worth of advertising that appeared on your site. If another ad network offers an 80% revenue share, but is only able to collect $50 from ads served on your site, you would earn $40. In this case, a higher revenue share wouldn’t make up for the lower revenue yield of the other ad network.

We’re continually working on helping you improve the returns from your site while giving you more control and insight into AdSense. For example, we continue to improve our technology so that we can deliver even better matched ads and attract even more advertisers to your websites. Additionally, we recently began providing more granular ways to find and review the ads on your site, as well as the ability to filter more ads by category. We’re also focused on finding other ways to make AdSense better for you. As you may remember, last December, we asked for your ideas and feedback on how we can make AdSense better. We received more than 600 suggestions and 35,000 votes, and we’ve been reviewing them all.

Keep an eye on this blog for updates about the new features we’re building to help you maximize your advertising revenues.

Building a relationship with clients or prospects goes both ways.
Your client views you as valuable, instead of a place to just spend money.
Your potential for increased revenues and a long-lasting relationship is real.

There’s another payoff for you too, which is reduced marketing
expenses measured in both time and money. If you are able to
retain more clients for longer periods, you’ll trim costly
advertising and other marketing costs.

If you ask, you’ll get more referrals from your clients.
Invaluable word-of-mouth endorsements from satisfied clients will
result in new business which magically waltzes the door.

You won’t even have to request customer testimonials.
You do include several on your site… right? Start by picking
out when you receive a spontaneous testimonial, whether it’s
in an e-mail, thank-you letter, or a conversation. Ask your
customer if you may use his words and name in your brochure a
nd on your site, with a link to his business. Most often,
the answer is yes. Testimonials are a vital piece of successful
service marketing and worth their weight in whatever
precious metal you value.

Building relationships with clients and prospects
isn’t something that will happen overnight. It requires a modification
in thinking (personal development) and some discipline
along the way. Your e-mail newsletter won’t do much good
unless you publish it regularly and the content is valued by your
subscribers. But the rewards can be significant. And the truth is that
no matter how wonderful you are, clients disappear. Their businesses
close down, change focus, or are sold.

But if your objective is to build relationships,
you’ll be one of the people in business for the long run.

This method will not only increase the car’s fuel efficiency but it will also help you cut your fuel costs significantly.

The kit works well with all types of gas or diesel cars, trucks and SUVs. Using it will make your car be up to 67.34% more fuel efficient. Also, you will be using water to supplement your fuel so the car will produce much cleaner emissions.

The conversion guide will show you how to use a small amount of electricity from your car’s battery to separate water into a gas called Brown gas or HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). It is a gas that burns effectively and supplies significant energy. At the end of the process it is converted back to simple water again. HHO has the atomic power of Hydrogen and maintains the stability of Water.
Using this technology has another benefit in that you can benefit from the IRS refunds
owed to you by law for using environment friendly technology on your car. The total cost of this upgrade or add on is under a $100.

Also, the water you use is simple tap water, there is no need for distilled water or water with other special additives.
Here’s how it works: The HHO gas is supplied to the engine’s intake manifold or carburetor. The electrical part of the equipment is put together by connecting the device to the 12 Volts of your battery via the ignition switch. Using this technique uses only 1-3 Amps and prevents hydrogen production when the engine is off.

The ‘Simple Water Fuel’ book comes with 5 other bonuses
1.) Exclusive Acess to Real-Live Systems and Installers: This book will provide you information on the best deals on water fuel in terms of price, quality and reliability.
2. Blueprints For 100% Water Cars, Patents and Resources: With this guide you can earn money by selling the system or your services.
3. Let The IRS Pay For Your Car Upgrade: This will provide you with the exact forms that you can use to deduct all your costs from the IRS.
4. Little-Known Secrets That Will Increase Your Mileage – Methods to save you gas and money are taught in this bonus.
5. SimpleWaterFuel Updates: you will get free updates
By using this system, you are not only cutting you fuel costs, but you are also sending a message that you are concerned about the environment and concerned about the increased burden of fuel costs on the average working person. The price of this package is $197 and it comes with a 60 day money back guarantee.
